Recommendations

  1. Add the logo at the top left of the email. This is where readers will expect it.
  2. Change the strapline to read 'The favourite jobs site for finance professionals'
  3. Again, clarify the purpose of the email in the headline. Say the news, trends and analysis are about finance recruitment so the reader knows immediately that it is what they want.
  4. Great headlines and summaries will make a huge difference to whether readers will click through to the main article.

These summaries are vague and don't offer anything specific which may be of interest. The summary should answer what's in it for the reader. What these readers care about is finding the best candidates so the summaries should offer something of interest with this in mind.

    For example:

    Are job boards dead?
Candidates are being drawn to new and innovative features offered by some more specialised job sites. more

Battle for finance talent gets fiercer
Increasing scarcity of new accountants has forced the hand of the Big 4 to begin their search early. more

Gloomy workplaces motivate accountants to move
A recent survey indicates the physical working environment can lead to absenteeism and may be a major motivator for accountants changing jobs. more

  5. The newsletter is not very personal. Adding author's names and even their pictures will help readers get to know the experts at GAAPweb and demonstrate your range of expertise.
  6. Rather than congratulate yourself, include your audience by clearly offering them a benefit. In this case a glass of wine.
  7. Put the benefit of your special offer in the headline and add a call to action so readers can easily see where to click.
  8. Again, put the benefit of entering the competition in the headline – in this case 'Win a bottle of wine'. Readers may not get to the end of the summary where it is currently mentioned.
  9. Clarify the purpose of the third news article. Show your readers you appreciate their help and feedback.
